Kenneth Taylor and Eden, an American living abroad, adopted the Poarch. Poarch claimed that she was employed at the farm of her family for 10 years and did chores. Bryner is her elder brother and she has two older adoptive sisters. The family relocated to Texas, United States when she reached thirteen years old. Her two older siblings remained back within the Phillipines. Poarch was later an United States Navy officer and spent several months in Japan.
